These Bosch wideband knock sensor kits are engineered to work seamlessly with the advanced knock-detection circuitry found in many modern engine management systems. Unlike older narrowband knock sensors—which only produced a voltage signal around a single, preset frequency—flat-response sensors provide a full-range signal that modern ECUs are specifically designed to process.
Traditional OEM knock sensors were limited in their ability to distinguish true engine knock from normal mechanical noise. With today’s state-of-the-art signal processing, wideband knock sensors allow the ECU to analyze the complete frequency spectrum and focus only on sounds that truly indicate knock. Modern ECUs can also filter the signal by crank angle, monitoring knock only at engine positions where detonation is most likely to occur.
